Hybrid Taxis
New Zealand's first hybrid-only taxi company has begun business in Matakana, north of Auckland. Matakabs uses a fleet of hybrid vans and cars, which have internal combustion engines but convert energy wasted during coasting and braking into electricity, which is stored in a battery till needed by the electric motor.
